Originally released in 2013, Helbig's <i>Pocket Symphonies</i> are stunning orchestral miniatures—filled with poignancy, accessibility and deep feeling. This electronic reinterpretation of the pieces grew out of the necessity of Helbig’s solo performances. The result is captivating: the melodies carry the same bittersweet emotion and instant appeal, but the textures—glimmering synthesisers, eerie vibraphone samples and a cut-paste mosaic of soothing and shattering sounds—endow the work with futuristic ambience.
