Pianist Chano Domínguez and bassist Javier Colina, close collaborators since the mid-'80s, distil their innovative hybrid of flamenco and jazz down to its essence in this live 2017 encounter from Madrid. Tackling originals, two pieces by late flamenco great Paco de Lucía (“Canción de amor”, “Ziryab”) and jazz standards by Michel Legrand and Sonny Rollins, the Spanish artists bring flamenco’s percussive rhythm and romantic harmony and jazz’s sparkling improvisational flair into a truly seamless union.
