Chilean indie-pop crooner Gepe's seventh album pays tribute to one of his homeland's most crucial musicians, Margot Loyola Palacios, who spent decades studying Chile's folk-song traditions and adapting them to craft her own albums. Here Gepe captures her quest with a string of subtly innovative Palacios covers. He also throws in a few new tunes with the same spirit, adding vintage folk rhythms to his usual mix of mournful jazz and gentle rock. Even newcomers to Chilean music will find themselves spellbound by highlights like the dreamy "Tu Nombre" and the sorrowful "Canto de Amanecida, Cuculí".
