The "h" in the title says it all: This album is one of comedy's great tributes to New York—the accents, the city and most of all, the people. Billy Crystal, voicing each character, populates <i>Mahvelous</i> with cranky granddads, slick jazz musicians and even his personified libido, scattering them across first-person stories and freewheeling parody songs. Crystal kills because he reproduces details as small as the hitch in the way an old man pronounces "bastard". This is a man who loves his subject.
