Her singing is consistently marvellous, favouring a soft, floaty approach that’s ideal for these romantic laments—though she does experiment with a more exploratory tone on “The Man I Love”. Her control of the material is truly something to savour, whether she’s lingering over individual syllables on a devastating rendition of “I Cover the Waterfront” or remaining perfectly poised against the juddering instrumentation of “From This Moment On”.
