Jenny Lin’s musical curiosity has taken her many places, and always with a wonderful sense of adventure. This musical journey unites her with one of Taiwan’s most popular singers, Teresa Teng, who passed away in 1995 at only 42. A cultural icon, singing in Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese and English, she was a star throughout East Asia, her career reaching its peak in the ’80s. Lin plays these invariably simple but undeniably potent melodies with a palpable love, and she captures the often-sentimental essence of each song, shorn of its words, with a treasurable respect. Her Steinway piano has been beautifully recorded.
