The Orchestra of the Americas, which draws its young membership from more than 25 countries in the Western Hemisphere, plays with a zest and spirit that is utterly compelling. Given that many of the musicians speak Spanish, it’s no surprise that they play Spanish music with a very special feeling. <i>The Three-Cornered Hat</i> suite’s intoxicating rhythms are meat and drink for these young players, and they play terrifically. The sultry <i>Nights in the Gardens of Spain</i>, Falla’s piano concerto in all but name, falls to veteran Mexican pianist Jorge Federico Osorio, who’s in top form, aided by Carlos Miguel Prieto’s energizing direction.
