While often at the front of India’s EDM circuit, producer Sanaya Ardeshir—aka Sandunes—has steadily shifted her attention to major recording projects. Her 2020 EP <i>Spare Some Time</i> bore collaborative fruits, as did the splendid electronic-jazz album <i>Spaven x Sandunes</i> with drummer Richard Spaven. On <i>Nowhere to Stand</i>, Sandunes lays out a brainy plot of glitch-y, melodic dance beats with the powerful yet accessible voices of Half Waif (“Shadow”), Landslands (“A Little While”) and Ramya Pothuri (“Ghosts”). Plus, Sid Sriram injects a mix of Carnatic and R&B harmonies on the title track.
