Nearly a century later, this first recording of the full cycle redefined recorded music—and it’s still the gold standard against which all Wagner recordings are measured. Starring the greatest Wagner singers of the era, plus the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by the young Georg Solti, the Decca <i>Ring</i> was the single most ambitious opera recording ever made, with producer John Culshaw making full use of new stereo technology to create a listening experience that’s as gripping as a live theatrical performance. This remastered highlight selection includes selections from all four operas, including <i>The Ride of the Valkyries</i>, <i>Siegfried’s Funeral March</i> and the breathtaking final moments of the whole tetralogy.
