DJ Rap celebrates the restless innovation and evolution of rave with a mix of classic anthems, many of which represent significant moments in the development of dance music. You can hear Larry Heard pretty much inventing deep house as Mr. Fingers (“Can You Feel It”) and Orbital and Guru Josh cementing rave’s encampment in the UK mainstream during the late ’80s and early ’90s (“Chime”, “Infinity”). With help from Peter Bouncer, Congo Natty lays down one of the foundational jungle tracks (“Junglist”), while Deep Blue’s “The Helicopter Tune” explores the genre’s more heads-down and immersive side.
