Gerardo and Emanuel Cedillo—the brothers more commonly known as Soul of Hex—rocket through an out-of-this-world selection of house beats for this edition of the <i>In the Mix</i> series from Freerange Records, which marks the release of the Tijuana-born duo’s <i>Constellation</i> EP. “Freerange and [sister label] Delusions of Grandeur have been the planets we call home for the last nine years,” Gerardo Cedillo tells Apple Music, referring to their long-running association with the renowned dance imprints. This mix pulls standout cuts from Moodymann, Motorcitysoul, Fingers Inc. and more into their orbit, transporting listeners into an atmospheric sonic universe. “The stars are aligned with mystical and diverse sounds for the cosmic rain dance,” they add cryptically. “End of transmission.”
