To celebrate Freerange’s 2024 drop of his <i>The Chicago EP</i>, Darran Nugent selects tracks by DJs from all over the world—including Ron Trent, Pezzner, Frits Wentink, Lazarusman and Delroy Edwards—all of which proudly bear the influence of house music’s birthplace. “This is a selection of deep, classic house music just how I like it: deep, hypnotic, uplifting grooves with basslines that vibrate your senses, and pulsating grooves that mess with your brain in the best possible way,” the Galway DJ/producer tells Apple Music. “Freerange has always been a go-to label for me since its earliest releases. Old faves include Jimpster’s timeless remix of [Milton Jackson’s] ‘Rogue Element’ and Pezzner’s cheeky ‘Big Roll’. Both feature here alongside more recent picks from the label as well as a selection of house gems from some of my favourite labels and producers past and present.”
