Early Hours can mean a few different things: Are you winding down after being up all night or just rising to meet the sun? This month’s Early Hours was crafted by the Chilean artist RUBIO, who envisioned a magical mix of the two. “I imagined something sensual, thoughtful, melancholic, dark and bright,” she tells Apple Music. “Those things can mix while you’re waking, but the post-party [environment] makes you feel melancholy for that ecstasy that no longer exists.” This mix includes long-time staples like the moody meditation “Colomb” by fellow Chilean producer Nicolas Jaar, but she also calls out current favourites such as “Winona” by the Australian producer DJ BORING. “That’s the one I’m always putting on.” So hit play and settle into a downtempo mood—whether you’re thinking about turning in or just easing into the day.
