Each month, the Apple Music Fitness Mix is helmed by one of dance and electronic music’s best DJs to deliver the perfect set for your next workout. This month’s mix, designed for running, was put together by Kaskade (born Ryan Raddon), a long-time fixture in North America’s EDM scene who considers himself a bit of a health nut. “[Health] is on par with sleeping and breathing,” he tells Apple Music. “Without it, life becomes very uncomfortable.” Raddon used to be an avid runner, and he crafted this mix to be a partner on the road. “Pounding my feet to the beat always helped me push my pace,” he says. “We all want to have a decent runway up to our high point, and we all want to have that feel-good let-down as we’re nearing the end. The middle? That’s all apex energy, hopefully carrying the listener past any barrier they’ve been looking to cross. Maybe today is the day you get your personal best.” These days, Raddon, now based in Los Angeles, is more drawn to surfing and yoga, but says he still relies on playlists to help him level up. “Music can make or break any type of session,” he says. “I’m hoping to encourage people who are using this mix to keep going, whether it’s day one or they’re a lifer. Follow the beat, find your groove, get one more rep, one more step.”
