Following Rawayana members Beto Montenegro and Andrés Story’s ASTROPICAL foray, they’ve returned to the group that made them such a force in Latin pop for a New Year’s Day blessing in album form. After the cheeky and festive introductory greeting “Si Te Pica Es Porque Eres Tú”, <i>¿Dónde Es El After?</i> kicks into gear with the tropical thump of “Se Presta”, a nocturnal vibe reset fixated on the after-party details. The mischief and mistakes that invariably occur late at night and resonate consequentially the next day populate the themes of emotional and exploratory cuts like “Bendito” and “Playa Pantaleta”. Their distinctively Venezuelan brand of Caribbean-inspired fusion resurfaces prominently on “La Noche Que No Había Uber”, accompanied by creative expressions of Afrobeats, bachata and dancehall. Whether reflecting on fleeting lovers with Colombian hitmaker Manuel Turizo on “Inglés En Miami” or finding a new romance in an unlikely locale alongside música mexicana stars Carín León and Grupo Frontera on “Como De Sol A Sol”, their collaborations here further expand their already rich musical world.
