Iconic music of the silver screen through the ages comes alive again on Josh Groban’s 10th album <i>CINEMATIC</i>. Groban soars with heartfelt covers of classics like <i>Casablanca</i>’s <b>“As Time Goes By”</b> and the <i>Pinocchio</i> inspirational <b>“When You Wish Upon a Star”</b>, as well as newer hits like Adele’s Oscar-winning James Bond theme <b>“Skyfall”</b> and <i>Coco</i>’s <b>“Remember Me”</b>—another Academy Award winner. (In fact, of the 10 in Groban’s set, five are Oscar winners and two are nominees.) Backed by an orchestra and featuring Jennifer Hudson (<b>“Unchained Melody”</b>), The Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles (<b>“Can You Feel the Love Tonight”</b>) and his own father Jack (the trumpeter on <b>“Moon River”</b>), the singer and his operatic pop offer a worthy and faithful theatrical tribute. Groban, though, makes room for his own spins—his version of <b>“Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)”</b> turns the Phil Collins power ballad into a symphonic treat—while crafting a loving collage.
