Lagos-hailing Starsamm has never shied away from wearing his heart on his sleeve. The 2025 release of his debut <i>Love Is War</i> signified a coming of age for the singer whose music generally reflects the arduous nature of 21st-century romance. Starsamm’s <i>DAWN</i> picks up where <i>Love Is War</i> left off, offering delicate vignettes of a singer still enamoured with the thrills of endearment. “I want to give you love and passion,” he sings on opener “Love & Passion”, wasting little time in stating his intention. From there, we witness him map out the fundamentals for healthy romance. He’s a pensive lover nursing thoughts of eloping on “All My Love” and segues into Yoruba folk to detail the sacrifices needed to make a relationship last on “Ero Oja” with Ayanfe. Even when he’s acknowledging the tempestuous nature of modern-day dating on “So Bad”, Starsamm posits love as an answer to all the chaos, offering “I no go lie, I want you so bad.” The natural conclusion to <i>DAWN</i>’s thesis is “Home”, a throbbing ballad about navigating life with someone special, adding an extra layer of sensitivity to an abundance of romantic affirmations.
