“It’s nothing but heavyweight hip-hop running through our selection for this month’s On Rotation,” The Allergies’ DJ Moneyshot tells Apple Music of this May 2026 mix. The reason? The arrival of the Bristol duo’s 2026 boom-bap track “Dig It Up”, a ’90s-referencing nostalgia trip. “This month’s mix digs deep into that era for a fat stack of tracks that inspired it,” says Moneyshot (real name Roy Spencer). So, expect cuts from Funkdoobiest (their 1992 debut track “Bow Wow Wow”), A Tribe Called Quest (their classic posse cut “Scenario”) and Lords of the Underground, who “mix the rough with the smooth on the timeless ‘Flow On (New Symphony)’,” notes Moneyshot. The duo also blend in tracks by Ugly Duckling’s Andy Cooper and Dutch rapper BlabberMouf, who supply the “razor-sharp rap flows” on “Dig It Up”, plus their own 2023 track “Stanky Funk” featuring The Pharcyde’s Bootie Brown. “We dig it!” adds Moneyshot of this short-but-sweet set.
