Years of perfecting a horn-laden and piano-heavy approach paid off on this splashy major-label debut from the Puerto Rican band. Erasing Latin pop boundaries, the quartet looks beyond traditional <i>merengue</i>, coaxing accordions out the door, slipping drum machines and soft jazz saxophone inside and even dropping a quick rap verse onto “Traigo Algo Bueno”. But the lads still stay true to Dominican tradition, never venturing far from reliable conga-driven rhythms, whether on a dreamy cut like “La Condena” or the club-ready “Linda Eh”.
