“The birds remind me of what remains,” goes the haunting refrain of the lead song from 2009’s <i>Immolate Yourself</i>, reprised here three years after the death of TTA’s Charlie Cooper. Pairing lush synths and shuddering electro grooves, it’s a reminder of the duo’s careful balance of atmosphere and force. Ellen Allien’s remix takes us to a heaving, wee-hours dance floor, while Matthew Dear’s boasts his woozy, bass-heavy touch. On “The Sky Is Black”, Josh Eustis contemplates life without his bandmate in stark electronic textures.
