Brantley Gilbert reflects on fatherhood, sobriety and redemption on this eighth studio album, and his first full-length project as a signee to BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. Produced by Brock Berryhill (Jake Owen, Kane Brown), <i>SINS OF THE FATHER</i> is right in Gilbert’s sweet spot, with 15 of the kind of gritty, sludgy country-rock songs that first earned him a devoted following. Opening track <b>“THE ADDICTION”</b> references Gilbert’s former substance abuse while celebrating the relationship that has helped him stay sober. Lead single <b>“GOOD DAMN”</b> makes use of his penchant for a punny play on words, for a sultry, hip-hop-inspired tune about reconnecting with an old flame. On <b>“F****D ME UP”,</b> Gilbert again uses a sly turn of phrase to illustrate how he found redemption through love, making for the collection’s most potent emotional statement. Friend and contemporary Jelly Roll joins him on <b>“BEGGING FOR CHANGE”,</b> a power ballad about working to become a better person.
