“We have a fireplace in the studio, so it’s always nice coming in the morning and getting the fire going, putting the kettle on and settling into the day’s session,” Hermitude’s Luke Dubs (Luke Dubber) tells Apple Music about recording during winter. He’s also looking forward to “watching the trees blow sideways, but being toasty is the best.” When creating this wintry DJ mix, the Australian electronic duo wanted to make something “that could exist both on the dance floor and on a fluffy rug with a mug full of mulled wine,” he says. “Being from the mountains ourselves, winter holds a very special energy for us, so hopefully the listener can be transported to a window looking out over icy bushland, but feel the warmth of the fire as well.” The mix kicks off with a track from a long-time favourite of the duo’s, Dorian Concept. “His latest album <i>Miniatures</i> is just snippets of him jamming on the Roland SH-101, and it’s really dreamy,” says Dubber. “‘Cut’ by Duskus is another one we love,” he adds, speaking to another highlight on the mix. “After hearing his biggest single ‘Let Go’, we were instant fans and were stoked when he put out <i>Healers Vol. 1</i> shortly after. It’s warm and melodic and really sounds like how the mountains feel.”
