When JENNIE released her first solo album, 2025’s <i>RUBY</i>, she had already been in the public eye as the main rapper and lead vocalist for BLACKPINK for almost a decade. Still, the 15-track exploration of fame, protecting the ones she loves, love and staying true to herself allowed the South Korean idol, actor and fashion icon an opportunity for deeper self-expression. “I think the closer you understand that emotion, the braver you become,” she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “Because now you know, so there is nothing to be afraid of.” That exercise in pop vulnerability continues on <i>Fallen Angel</i>, a three-track follow-up that gives listeners a peek into JENNIE’s romantic headspace. On the EP’s bedroom-pop title track, the 30-year-old asks a lover to stay, claiming “without you, these wings are of no use” over dreamy folk instrumentals. The melancholic hush continues on <b>“HEAVEN”</b>, a track about indulging in a toxic dynamic (“When we’re good, yeah, we’re good/But we fight so hard/Crash and burn/That’s my favourite part”), and <b>“Less than a Lover”</b>, a breezy song requesting a summer romance stay low-stakes.
