Following a number of albums full of her then-husband T Bone Burnett's elaborate productions, Sam Phillips took a drastic detour with this spare, acoustic-based record. The minimalism only increases the intensity, whether on quirky, creepy tunes like "Incinerator" or on romantic ballads like "Love Is Everywhere I Go". On "Wasting My Time", a dramatic cello channels all the grandiosity of an entire orchestra, and fans of <i>Gilmore Girls</i> will recognise the wordless hook from "How to Dream" as a core component of the show's soundtrack.
